We present a very special night at Loves cafe on Thursday April 6th.

Welcoming Joshua Idehan to our stage for the first time, expect something really special. More about Joshua at the bottom of the page. 

Opening for Joshua we have Jaidah and Malcolm and Sophie, 3 of Westons very own Slam Poets offering up some of their Spoken Words, you may have caught them before at Loves very own “Ryme Against the Tide” bi-monthyl Poetry Slam.

From the kitchen that night we will be serving a very special “Global Menu” working alongside a group of volunteers who we have been running a cooking project with, we are offering a very special supper, with dishes from Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, India and West Africa. We have written the menu as a group, to showcase recipes that we enjoy cooking, and resonating memories from home.

“A Poetic Masterpiece” Afropunk

 Joshua Idehen is a British-born Nigerian based in Sweden. A spoken word artist and musician, he has contributed poems to Mercury-nominated albums ‘Channel The Spirits’ by The Comet Is Coming, ‘Your Queen Is A Reptile’ and the Mobo winning “Black Is The Future”, both by Sons of Kemet. More recently, he formed Calabashed with Alabaster DePlume, a spiritual jazz crew who were recently named a 2021 one-to-watch by NME, and worked with LA electronic maestro Daedelus on the critically acclaimed mini LP, “Holy Water Over Sons”. In 2022, he begins his journey as a solo musical artist, collaborating with producer Ludvig Parment (Saturday, Monday).  Joshua has a decades live experience, touring with Sons of Kemet to his band Benin City as well as debut solo performances in 2022 at Secret Garden Party and Green Man Festival.
