‘The sound of Lady Nade & The Silhouettes suggests a blend of soul, funk, R&B and folk yet remains refreshingly unique. Lady Nade’s influences as a songwriter include Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, Antony And The Johnsons, Amy Winehouse, and many others.’

June 8th

Mark Ely

June 15th

Kirk, Kim and the Doc

June 22nd

Julia Biel

www.juliabiel.com

“a voice of supreme subtlety and honeyed depth. Her mesmerizing voice and magnetic stage presence should encourage many to follow where she leads… about to hit the big time.”THE GUARDIAN

June 29th

Prita

www.prita.com.au

Prita’s unique sound is ‘Hip-So-Fo’. It combines her love of Hip-Hop, Soul and Folk with the use of a live loop pedal and effortlessly layers funky urban harmonies, acoustic fingerpicking guitar and beat boxing. These contrasting dynamics add another element to her live solo show, which audiences have described as ‘captivating, inspiring and uplifting’. Prita’s songwriting is both storytelling and Jazzy, with her big bluesy soulful voice and a natural ear for harmony; she has been likened to KT Tunstall, Tracy Chapman and Norah Jones. Fans say her candid approach to song-writing and performing is like ‘watching open heart surgery’.

July 6th

Jim Blair (from hip route stuff)

When Jim Blair took time out from Hiproute to record his solo album, One Take Kitchen, what you got was the stripped down heart of the band. Although no major departures were made from his comfort zone, it was still a brilliant collection of stripped back rootsy songs. And in many ways his new release is more of the same. That said, it doesn’t mean that he is just rehashing the same old tricks here, far from it. What made One Take Kitchen work was the quality of the songs and Not Worth The Worry shows that it wasn’t a fluke. To the listener this doesn’t appear to be the “difficult second album” that pony-tailed, red braces-wearing record executives talk about in knowing, elitist tones. Far from it. It’s a worthy successor the previous album and shows that even a songwriter of this calibre can keep re-setting his own benchmark.

July 13th

Alex Lipinski

www.alexlipinski.com

Local singer songwriter Alex Lipinski is a favourite of ours at Loves Cafe. Alex plays his own songs which are written from the heart with a modern americana and folk feel. Alex plays a handful of select covers which are chosen from his influences such as Ryan Adams, Neil Young, Jason Donovan.

July 14th (saturday)

The Alchemists Wardrobe

The Alchemists Wardrobe are Lara Conley & Nix. Earthy and charming original folk songs that delight audiences wherever they go.

July 20th

T R Clemmett and the mystic rivers

Adam Lipinski

www.adamlipinski.com

Adam Lipinski is a singer/songwriter from the South West of England. He has been writing and performing original material since the mid 90′s both as the lead singer of a rock ‘n’ roll band and more recently as a solo artist. Adam’s music is mainly acoustic driven and draws on various styles including folk, alt-country, rock ‘n’ roll and classic melodic guitar bands.

August 17th

Derrin Neuendorf

www.derrinneuendorf.com

It all started several years ago with one telephone number, 1200 pounds, a guitar and a plane ticket from his native Australia to the UK. On arrival Derrin bought an old post office van and installed a bed in the back converting it into a camper. After this he began playing anywhere and everywhere that would have him. The word spread quickly around the UK and within 9 months, he was playing nationally and also had begun to join the festival circuit. Since then he has also established himself on the European scene the past few years and quickly gained a fan base. His last European and UK tour was attended by 3500 people in 6 countries. This all done independently and is now as in much of his career without a label.

Both received some fantastic press, regional and national. (see reviews page). He has performed all over the UK, at festivals and fayres, in pubs, clubs and bars, on bandstands and boats, and once in a beautiful treehouse. He performs regularly in Paris and has also played in Zurich, Barcelona, New York and Weston-Super-Mare. Phil has had his music played on many local radio stations and also by Bob Harris, Steve Lamacq and Alex Lester on BBC Radio 2.

September 29th LOVES 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY with Dan Donelly

October 5th

Gaz Brookfield

http://gazbrookfield.com/

His songs are instantly accessible, everyman tales of life, love and everything else in between. Played in a folk-ish style with occasional use of the guitar as a percussive tool, as well as some two handed venturing around the fretboard, Gaz’s simple yet poignant songwriting captures the imagination of the listener.
